WHAT IS MANUAL LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE:
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) stimulates the lymphatic system to improve the movement of lymph fluid in the body. Unlike the circulatory system our lymphatic system doesn't have a pump. It requires movement and activity. Those who unable to move due to ailments, surgery or work may experience congestion of the lymph system. The lymph system may also become congested from injury or surgery. And for others it's just genetic.
Our therapists use gentle rhythmic techniques to move stagnant lymph to the areas where the body can filter and process the lymph to relieve congestion and swelling. The lymph system is a critical part of the immune system. You could think of it like the body's garbage disposal, helping your body get rid of waste and bacteria. Think of what happens when your garbage disposal backs up. It is similar when the lymph system isn't working properly. The lymph system is mostly superficial so the treatment will be light. Our MLD specialists have advanced training in working with the lymphatic system and are skilled at reducing swelling and stagnation regardless of the cause.
