Imagine floating weightless ... your muscles relax, your joints expand and let go, your breath deepens, your eyes easily close, pain subsides, your mind drifts.... You feel your relationship to gravity through the lack of it. You may move your body to see how it feels to move without gravity. You may be in darkness or choose from a rainbow of light colors. you may drift off to sleep (don't worry its totally safe to do so, you will stay safe and afloat)

A BRIEF HISTORY OF FLOAT THERAPY
Float therapy or sensory deprivation, while often associated with New Age woowoo, is actually a child of science. The original float tank was invented by John C. Lilly, a neuroscientist, in 1954 to study the effects of sensory deprivation on the human brain. While it is just beginning to catch on here in the US as a wellness trend, in Europe it has enjoyed popularity since 1970s. The float tank while similar to Lilly's original design has evolved to be somewhat more current with our tech world while still allowing the same blissful experience.
Currently, research is being conducted on Float therapy at the Laureate Institute for Brain Research in Tulsa, OK. Through the use of Float Pods, fMRI and EEG machines, a young neuroscientist, Justin Feinstein and his colleagues will study how float therapy can help patients develop body/mind awareness and improve common mental health conditions.
Curious. Come give floating a try. And remember the effects of floating are cumulative, so regular floats are recommended.
